Tips to reduce water use

We recommend mulching the beds.
Experience has shown that covering the ground with hay or straw can reduce evaporation by 80%. Keeping the beds evenly moist will create an optimal moist microclimate under the mulch. This not only helps the plants to grow, but also reduces the water consumption enormously. On our farm we only water every 2-3 days and irrigate a 200 m2 cultivation area in the Algarve in Portugal with 500l of water. Our beds are always moist, which promotes plant growth and crop quality.

It is also advisable to keep the beds moist at all times.
Even if the bed is not used for a certain period of time. Drying out the soil causes a huge reduction in the micro- and macro-organisms in the soil, resulting in an infertile soil.
Tests have shown that the addition of water to the entire bed is lower over a longer period of time than if it is only poured selectively. Due to the small volume of the poured areas, as opposed to the large dry volume, they dry out faster than if the entire volume of the bed were filled with moisture.
Similar to heating in an apartment.

Maintaining an energy level always requires less energy than having to reach this level again and again.

The Asian vegetable 'Mibuna' is a biennial cabbage plant from the Middle East, originally developed in Mizuna in the 19th century. The hardy vegetable is also known as Japanese mustard cabbage and has many elongated and narrow leaves. The quickly growing leaves are mild and have an aromatic, slightly sweet taste, with a fine rocket aroma. The variety is high-yielding and can be harvested over a long period of time. Asian vegetables are eaten fresh or cooked.

Subtropical climate (Mediterranean) (e.g. Portugal, Spain, Italy)
Sow directly outdoors in autumn when temperatures drop from September to November.

Temperate climate (e.g. Germany, Switzerland, Poland)
Sow directly outdoors from February to April or in autumn from the end of July to September and plant from mid-September to the beginning of October for overwintering.

Generally
Sow broadcasted or in rows. Asian vegetable prefers a sunny to partially shaded location with permeable, nutrient-rich, humus-rich loamy soil. Prepare the soil with seasoned animal manure. Avoid waterlogging.

Extra tips
For a longer harvest period, the flower bases should be broken out and care should be taken not to damage the heart during harvest. Harvest the leaves from the outside in to keep growth stable. To prevent cabbage flies from laying eggs, we recommend using vegetable protection nets. In order to quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and permeable soil, we recommend additional incorporation of biochar and primary rock powder.

Type of propagation
It spreads via seeds.

Plant care
Regular watering promotes plant growth. Beds prepared with animal manure and planting in mixed culture replace additional fertilizer.
