Tips to reduce water requirements

We recommend mulching the beds
Experience has shown that by covering the floor with hay or straw, evaporation can be reduced by 80%. If you keep the beds evenly moist, an optimal humid microclimate will be created under the mulch. This not only promotes the growth of plants, but also enormously reduces water consumption. On our farm we only water every 2-3 days and irrigate a 200 m2 cultivation area in the Algarve in Portugal with 500l of water. Our beds are always moist, which promotes plant growth and harvest quality.

It is also advisable to keep the beds moist at all times, even if the bed is not used for a certain period of time
The desiccation of the soil leads to a huge decline in micro-and macro-organisms in the soil, resulting in a barren soil over time. Tests have shown that the water content in the entire bed with full-scale irrigation remains longer than if watering is only carried out selectively. Due to the small volume of the poured surfaces, in contrast to the large dry volume, they dry out faster than if the entire volume of the bed is filled with moisture. Similar to heating in an apartment.

Maintaining an energy level always requires less energy than having to achieve it again and again.

The celeriac 'Monarch' is a very old two-year vegetable and medicinal plant variety from the 17th century. Century originating in the Mediterranean. In ancient Egypt it was already known as a popular vegetable, it was used by the ancient Greeks as a symbol of triumph and victory and was generally considered a helpful sexual enhancer. The robust variety forms very large, trapezoidal to round and heavy tubers with white and firm flesh. The taste is mild and slightly nutty, can be consumed raw and can be stored for a long time. Celeriac is a cultural and historical heritage of inestimable value and has antibiotic, digestive, diuretic, purifying and calming nerves.

Subtropic climate (Mediterranean) (e. g. B. Portugal, Spain, Italy)
We recommend pre-cultivation in small bowls from February to June.

Moderate climate (e. g. B. Germany, Switzerland, Poland)
We recommend pre-cultivation in small bowls from March to May.

No-till sown is not recommended, we recommend pre-culture for celery. To do this, sow the seeds in a small bowl and let the seedlings grow up to the first visible celery leaves, then pik into the desired container. After peckering, let the seedlings grow at moderate temperatures until they are planted out as seedlings. The planting of the seedlings in the bed is carried out from the 2nd Pair of leaves after the cotyledders.
Celeriac prefers a sunny location with a nutrient-rich, sandy humose loam soil. Prepare the soil with deposited animal manure. Avoid waterlogging.

Additional tips
Note that the seedlings are not set too deep so that the tubers can form. Celery can be grown on saline soils. Root approaches are insensitive to iron spots in this variety. In order to quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and well-drained soil, an additional incorporation of biochar and primeval rock flour is recommended.

Type of propagation
Spread occurs via seeds.

Care Plants
Regular water giving causes faster growth. M It animal manure prepared beds and planting in mixed culture, replaces additional fertilization.
