Description
The 'A Grosse Graine De Hollande' lamb's lettuce is an old annual and fast-growing medicinal and leafy vegetable plant from the Netherlands. In the 16th century, lamb's lettuce was grown in monasteries mainly for medicinal purposes, but it was not until the 18th century that people began cultivating this variety as a food. This vigorously growing lamb's lettuce variety with large, long, dark green leaves grows in rosettes, is particularly hardy and enriches the gardener with a generous harvest. The mild, juicy taste is aromatic and nutty. It is easy to grow and can be grown all year round in temperate climates on almost all types of soil. Lamb's lettuce is ideal as a secondary crop to fill in any gaps in the bed.

Additional tips
For a staggered harvest, several sowings at 4-week intervals are recommended. For a long harvest period, harvest 1/4 of the leaves from the outside to the inside and take care not to damage the heart in order to keep growth stable. In order to quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and permeable soil with good nutrient and water storage capacity, additional incorporation of biochar and primary rock flour is recommended.

Propagation occurs via seeds.
Plant care
Occasional weeding helps the young plants to grow. Loose, nutrient-rich and moist soil is sufficient. No fertilization necessary.
