Tips to reduce water requirements

We recommend mulching the beds
Experience has shown that by covering the floor with hay or straw, evaporation can be reduced by 80%. If you keep the beds evenly moist, an optimal humid microclimate will be created under the mulch. This not only promotes the growth of plants, but also enormously reduces water consumption. On our farm we only water every 2-3 days and irrigate a 200 m2 cultivation area in the Algarve in Portugal with 500l of water. Our beds are always moist, which promotes plant growth and harvest quality.

It is also advisable to keep the beds moist at all times, even if the bed is not used for a certain period of time
The desiccation of the soil leads to a huge decline in micro-and macro-organisms in the soil, resulting in a barren soil over time. Tests have shown that the water content in the entire bed with full-scale irrigation remains longer than if watering is only carried out selectively. Due to the small volume of the poured surfaces, in contrast to the large dry volume, they dry out faster than if the entire volume of the bed is filled with moisture. Similar to heating in an apartment.

Maintaining an energy level always requires less energy than having to achieve it again and again.

Milfoil Yarrow is a very ancient perennial wild meadow and medicinal plant native to Europe and Western Asia. As one of the oldest medicinal herbs, the traditional hardy wild plant, known since ancient times, is very much appreciated in naturopathy and has a variety of areas of application and health-promoting ingredients, which, among other things, have an anti-inflammatory, calming and relaxing effect. The robust wild plant loves the sun and can withstand drought and heat. During the long flowering period, it is an excellent pasture for insects. In flowering, is also the optimal harvest time of the plant. The above-ground components of the witch's weed can be used in many ways for tea, tincture, compress or as a bath additive. The typically bitter-tasting leaf tips are also used in the kitchen. Sheep also like to feed on the pleasantly fragrant plant with white and, less often, praise-like flowers, which is how it got its name. Pointer plant for nitrogen-containing soils.

Subtropic climate (Mediterranean) (e. g. B. Portugal, Spain, Italy)
Sow directly outdoors from January to July.

Moderate climate (e. g. B. Germany, Switzerland, Poland)
Sow directly outdoors from April to June. Pre-cultivation in small pots without pecking from February to May is also possible.

Sow widely dice or plant yarrow plants in pots, set in rows. In the event of possible drying out or carrying away of small animals such as ants, we recommend pre-culture. To do this, sow the seeds directly in pots. A pot culture is possible, but the plant then needs a lot of water and remains a little smaller.
Yarrow prefers a fully sunny location with Drained And nutrient-rich soil. Prepare the underground with just a little bit of deposited animal manure to loosen it. Avoid waterlogging.

Additional tips
Nudibranchs avoid this herb. In locations with moist soils, the plant will not thrive optimally. It fends off lice and attracts countless insects such as hoverflies, beetles, gall mosquitoes, wasps and bees. As a result, the pollination of other vegetable plants is improved. The root system forms very long roots and needs a lot of space. The plant grows strongly and tends to grow. In order to quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and well-drained soil, an additional incorporation of biochar and primeval rock flour is recommended.

Type of propagation
Spread occurs via seed or root division.

Care Plants
Due to the initially slow growth of the plants, we recommend weeding the surrounding herbs regularly. M It animal manure prepared beds and planting in mixed culture, replaces additional fertilization.
