Zucchini

Zucchini originate from the warm regions of Central and South America, where early forms emerged from wild squash species and were already used by Indigenous cultures. Through the Mediterranean they reached Europe, where the introduced squash types gradually developed into the zucchini forms known today during the 19th century. Their diversity includes elongated, club‑shaped or round fruits, as well as colour variations from white and deep green to light green, yellow or striped.

In subtropical climates, zucchini benefit from long, warm growing seasons and reliably develop vigorous plants with uniform fruits. In temperate regions, many of our traditional and historically preserved open‑pollinated varieties also perform well, growing steadily even with less heat. In addition, there are varieties specifically adapted to certain regions, thriving particularly harmoniously under cooler conditions. Zucchini therefore show remarkable adaptability and integrate well into many different climate zones.
