Asian salads are leaf mustard cabbage types and mostly fast-growing varieties that usually come from Asia. Most species belong to the cruciferous family (Brassicaceae) and are picked to harvest individual leaves or used as cut lettuce. The diverse taste of the vegetable is usually from mustard cabbage-like hot to spicy and nutty. In the kitchen, the leaves are eaten as a side salad or briefly fried in a wok.

Growing Asian salads is very easy and generally takes place in cool temperatures. These vegetables can either be sown directly in rows or pre-cultivated into larger plants. In temperate climates, cultivation can take place in spring and summer, but in subtropical climates, cultivation is only recommended from autumn onwards when temperatures are already falling.
