About Benjis seeds
Our tasks
We represent a tried and tested alternative to the government and industrial orientation with hybrid varieties, patents, genetic engineering and biotechnology, which for us results in an obvious and significant loss of our diversity and biodiversity.
In this way, we carry out our own variety conservation breeding, create new variety preservation networks, support, train and connect existing sustainable physical networks and independent breeders across Europe. This enables us to make our necessary contribution to the independent preservation of our diversity and food freedom effectively and collectively.
To make it easier for people to get to know and grow the old varieties and to provide additional support, we also offer seedlings, vegetables and medicinal herbs from our varieties for regional sale in Portugal at markets.
Quality and sustainability
Quality and sustainability
Quality precedes sustainability, which is why we pay a lot of attention to this aspect and regularly carry out various quality tests - germination test, driving force test and plant health tests.
All of our varieties can be reproduced (open pollinated) and can be stably propagated in your own garden for years. Our seeds come from our own and other natural and sustainable plant breeding. Our Europe-wide collaboration with breeders, associations and networks stabilizes and increases the prospect of being able to preserve a large variety of varieties using tried-and-tested breeding methods for fruit, vegetables, wild and medicinal plants.
Supporting of diversity
Supporting of diversity
The distribution of our seeds serves to preserve diversity in the interests of people and should also give others the opportunity to try out and get to know the diverse, healthy and tasty varieties.
Deliberately selected, robust and old varieties such as those we offer here on our website are no longer economically relevant due to the high demands of the industry and are therefore irrevocably deleted by corporations from the variety catalog for the production of seeds, seedlings and food. The consequences can already be clearly seen today in the variety, taste and shelf life of the fruits and vegetables offered on the market or in the supermarket.
Passing on our seeds counteracts the loss caused by the removal of the old varieties and represents another necessary basis for preserving our plant diversity: people's interest!

The founder
Playful, adventurous and excited about the possibilities, I have gained a lot of knowledge and practical experience over the course of my life while exploring many different areas of life.
My name is Benji Freeman and I was born in Germany in 1989 under the star sign of Gemini.
Since the beginning of my thinking, I have been interested in nature and exploring life in all its facets. Even as a child, I enjoyed accepting life's challenges as opportunities and always looked for a positive solution to develop myself and help others.
Through the diverse situations and observing the outside world, I quickly realized what task I have in this life. I purposefully gained further experience and studied everything necessary to create something sustainable for our independence.
Over the course of my life, I explored the world of plants more intensively and learned how to organize my own self-sufficiency efficiently.
The realization of the need to independently preserve our plant diversity prompted me to set up a project called "Benjis seeds" in 2020 to preserve our cultural, useful, wild and medicinal plant diversity, to promote biodiversity and to educate and connect people.
