Seeds or Seedlings

The broccoli 'Calabrese Natalino' is an ancient biennial, mid-early and traditional Italian type of cabbage that paved the way for the popularization of broccoli. Already in the time of the Romans, this cabbage vegetable was a popular food. After the main flowering, this robust variety of cabbage forms numerous side shoots by autumn. The special delicate taste of the flower buds is mild and has a delicate broccoli aroma. Broccoli is less demanding than cauliflower and is ideal for raw consumption.

General
We always recommend pre-culture for cabbage, for this purpose let the seedlings grow in a small bowl up to the first visible cabbage leaves, then pik into the desired container. After peckering, let the seedlings grow at moderate temperatures until they are planted out as seedlings. The planting of the seedlings in the bed is carried out from the 2nd Pair of leaves after the cotyledders.
Cabbage plants prefer a sunny location with sufficient water and nutrient-rich, humus-rich loam soil. Prepare the soil for cabbage with deposited animal manure. Avoid waterlogging.

Additional tips
The broccoli buds are harvested before the flowers open. To prevent the laying of eggs from cabbage flies, we recommend the use of vegetable protection nets. In order to quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and well-drained soil, an additional incorporation of biochar and primeval rock flour is recommended.

Type of propagation
Spread occurs via seeds.
