The biennial beetroot 'Egyptian Plattrunde' is an old original red variety that pioneered other newer red varieties. Mild earthy-sweet flavor. Excellent for raw vegetables. Ideal for pre-cultivation, pot culture possible, sowing all year round, good for mixed culture, harvesting the roots.

 Description 
The beetroot 'Egyptian flat round' is an biennial and the most original red variety that has been native to the Mediterranean region since 1868, in Lombardy - a rural region in France. This robust and fast-growing variety developed from the white beetroot. The beetroot forms short leaves with flat, round root tubers and dark red flesh. The excellent taste of the tubers is mild and earthy-sweet and is ideal as a raw food, for juicing or in a smoothie. For year-round cultivation.

 General recommendations 
For pre-cultivation, sow the seeds in a small bowl and let the seedlings grow until the first visible beet leaves appear, then prick them out into the desired container. After pricking out, let the seedlings grow at moderate temperatures until they are planted out as seedlings. Plant the seedlings in the bed from the second pair of leaves after the cotyledons. 
Red beetroot 'Egyptian flat round' ideally prefers soil that is moist, permeable, nutrient-rich and has plenty of humus and loam. It does not tolerate waterlogging.

 Additional tips 
For a staggered harvest, several sowings at intervals of 4 weeks are recommended. Heat-resistant, bolt-resistant, germinates successfully even in warm temperatures. In order to quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and permeable soil with good nutrient and water storage capacity, additional incorporation of biochar and primary rock flour is recommended.
