Seeds or seedlings

The red pointed cabbage 'Kalibos' is a two-year old Czech red cabbage and only the only existing known variety of this species. The almost forgotten special pointed cabbage forms cylindrical, pointed and firm heads of cabbage in an attractive red color. The loose inside leaves are crisp, the taste is very tender and juicy with a mildly sweet aroma, also sweeter than the white pointed cabbage varieties. It is ideal for raw consumption and is ideal for preparing red cabbage. Harvest cabbages only have a short storage time, preferably harvested directly from the bed.

Subtropic climate (Mediterranean) (e. g. B. Portugal, Spain, Italy)
From February after the last frosts, sow directly into the open air. We recommend pre-cultivation in small bowls from January to April.

Moderate climate (e. g. B. Germany, Switzerland, Poland)
Sow directly into the frost-free outdoor area from May. We recommend pre-cultivation in small bowls from March to May.

We always recommend pre-culture for cabbage, for this purpose let the seedlings grow in a small bowl up to the first visible cabbage leaves, then pik into the desired container. After peckering, let the seedlings grow at moderate temperatures until they are planted out as seedlings. The planting of the seedlings in the bed is carried out from the 2nd Pair of leaves after the cotyledders.
Pointed cabbage prefer a sunny to partially shaded location with sufficient water and nutrient-rich, humus-rich clay soil. Prepare the soil for cabbage with deposited animal manure. Avoid waterlogging.

Additional tips
The color of red cabbage varies from red to blue depending on the nature of the soil. To prevent the laying of eggs from cabbage flies, we recommend the use of vegetable protection nets. In order to quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and well-drained soil, an additional incorporation of biochar and primeval rock flour is recommended.

Type of propagation
Spread occurs via seeds.
