The onion 'Ailsa Craig' is an annual notable onion variety dating from 1887, originating in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The fast-growing and very large variety develops high-round and straw-yellow onions. The popular old variety belongs to the largest and earliest vegetable onions, reaching up to 20 cm in diameter and weighing up to 2.5 kg. The taste of the cold-tolerant variety is excellently mild, sweet and free from the characteristic, pungent onion flavor. It is ideal for raw consumption. Mature tubers can be stored for up to 2 months.
