The perennial Indian tobacco 'Santo Domingo Ceremonial' is a low-growing and hardy ritual tobacco with a high nicotine content, used for medicinal purposes and ceremonies. During flowering, it provides a nutrient-rich bee pasture. Ideal for pre-cultivation, pot culture possible, sowing spring-summer, good for mixed culture, harvesting of the leaves.

 Description 
The Indian tobacco 'Santo Domingo Ceremonial' is an ancient and perennial ritual tobacco from the village of Santo Domingo Pueblo near the Rio Grande in New Mexico. This robust tobacco is traditionally used by the indigenous nations of Santo Domingo Pueblo to Sandoval County in New Mexico. Due to its high nicotine content, this special variety is used by Pueblo priests in rain ceremonies in addition to its medicinal uses. In addition, tobacco can also be used as an organic insecticide in the garden. The rather small plants form smaller leaves than those of the well-known farmer's tobacco. When in bloom, the many small, light yellow flowers provide a nutritious bee pasture for insects. This Indian tobacco can be used for smoking.

 General recommendations 
Pre-cultivation and subsequent planting at the specified planting distance is recommended. For pre-cultivation, sow the seeds in a small bowl and plant them directly into the prepared bed from the second pair of leaves after the cotyledons.
Indian tobacco 'Santo Domingo Ceremonial' prefers a permeable, nutrient-rich, moist and humus-rich sandy loam soil. Doesn't tolerate waterlogging.

 Additional tips 
In order to quickly obtain a fine, crumbly and permeable soil with good nutrient and water storage capacity, additional incorporation of biochar and primary rock flour is recommended.
